Spirit of Restlessness
The Spirit of Restlessness is what drives us all to accomplish something, to better, and to do more.
The Spirit of Restlessness is what drives us all to accomplish something, to better, and to do more.
It is what keeps us moving forward.
We are never content with complacency. We need the spirit of restlessness to drive our ambitions and motivate us. It pushes us to do great things and feel satisfied with our accomplishments.
The Spirit of Restlessness is in all of us and sometimes we need a gentle reminder that we are not alone.
Restless by definition means “unable to rest or relax” and the Spirit of Restlessness is in all of us. And sometimes we need a gentle reminder that we are not alone. People who are restless are often misunderstood and misinterpreted. They may get called names like “flighty,” “fickle,” or “inconsistent.” But they are merely trying to give themselves permission to follow their heart.
We can never move on or make changes in our life if we try to control everything.
If your spirit of restlessness is telling you to try out a new job, then it’s time for you to let go of the confines and restrictions that are holding you back.
If your spirit of restlessness is telling you to move, then it’s time for you to open up the possibilities and explore new places.
If your spirit of restlessness is telling you to write that book or start that business, then it’s time for you to take a risk and see where life leads.
When things don’t go the way we plan, we can react by trying harder or by giving up.
A lot of the time, we can get caught up in a plan that we set for ourselves. We have all been there. Whether it’s in our career, our fitness level or with our hobbies, if things don’t go as planned at first, we can find ourselves needing to make a decision: Do I try harder? Or do I give up?
This is where the spirit of restlessness comes in. It’s an instinct that doesn’t allow you to give up even when times are tough. It makes you want to keep going and find success no matter what happens along the way. It gives you a drive to not settle for a less-than-ideal result. We all have it at some point, but sometimes that never-give-up attitude gets lost along the way when life gets busy and things just don’t seem to be panning out as we had hoped they would.
Always moving forward, always pushing ourselves to be more, because we are not content with complacency.
The spirit of restlessness is a bittersweet one. It’s exciting, because it forces you to keep moving forward and pushing yourself past your comfort zone in order to accomplish things you never thought possible. But it’s also scary, because it can be overwhelming and can make you feel like nothing you do is good enough.
How do I deal with this? Well, I try my best not to overcommit myself so that I don’t become overwhelmed. With each new idea or new project that comes along, I give myself some time to think about whether or not I want to pursue it before actually committing myself to pursuing it.
I also remind myself regularly that perfection isn’t attainable, and that even if something isn’t perfect (by my own standards), if it gets the job done then it is still useful and valuable. And most importantly: just because something isn’t perfect doesn’t mean it has no value!
we can never move on or make changes in our life if we try to control everything
- Learn how to focus on the small stuff.
- Stop trying to be perfect. Perfection is like a moving target, you can never hit it.
- Don’t think about what other people think. It doesn’t matter, so stop worrying about it.
- Don’t worry about what could happen. That’s exhausting and unnecessary (almost everything works out just fine).
- Stop comparing yourself to others. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself and let others do the same.
- Stop trying to control everything in your life — because you can’t control everything in your life!
