Powerful night prayer for protection

Powerful night prayer for protection

God of the Angel armies, I come before you tonight and thank you for your indescribable gift.

Sleep is a blessing that many people take for granted. It has been said, “If there were no sleep, we would be forced to live only in light or darkness—and just imagine how dangerous that would be!” God has given us sleep to refresh our bodies and minds so we can function properly during the day.

The Holy Spirit also works through our dreams at night to guide us in many ways throughout our lives. He reveals truths about ourselves and others; he teaches us spiritual truths; he comforts us when we are troubled; he speaks directly with us; he brings peace into our hearts if we have been troubled by some wrong thing done against us or someone else…the list goes on!

I lift up my family to you and pray, Let your angels surround us as we sleep.

  • God’s angels are warriors and protectors.
  • They are powerful and fierce.
  • They are not to be feared, but revered as our greatest friends and allies.
  • Angels are a great comfort in the night, especially when we feel vulnerable or alone. We must never forget that they love us just as God loves us, and we can always call on them for help when we need it most!

However, you should never worship an angel in place of God (Exodus 20:3). When you pray at night, always remember that God is listening to your requests—no matter how big or small they may seem to you—and He will answer them if it is His will for your life

Lord, cover us with your feathers, and under your wings may we trust.

Lord, cover us with your feathers and under

your wings may we trust.

Psalm 91:4

When the world is dangerous and dark, it’s easy to feel afraid. But you can rest in God’s protection when you sleep at night with these powerful night prayer for protection.

Hide us in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who assail us. From the deadly pestilence, from the arrow that flies by day, from the terror of the night and from all evil. Protect us Lord.

Embracing the need for protection is the first step in asking for it.

I pray, Lord, that you would provide me with a shield of faith to protect me from the evils of this world. I ask that you would hide us in your shadow from all harm and evil as we wait for your coming again. In Jesus’s name I pray, amen.

Guard our sleeping minds from hurtful things and let your Holy Spirit whisper peace into our heads. May we awake feeling ready to serve you with joy.

Starting your day with prayer is a great way to feel positive and optimistic, which can help you get through the day. In fact, people who pray regularly are more likely to be in good health!

Prayer is also an excellent way to bond with your family members. When everyone in the house prays for one another at night, it creates a sense of unity that can carry over into other aspects of your life—including bedtime.

And when we finally leave this world may we do so with faith and confidence that the everlasting arms of our mighty God has held us close each night throughout our lives. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

And when we finally leave this world may we do so with faith and confidence that the everlasting arms of our mighty God has held us close each night throughout our lives. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

We would all like to think that when we die, our lives will be peaceful and quiet. We won’t have any regrets or worries. But if that is not the case, then I hope that you at least find comfort in knowing that your life was full of love and laughter, peace and prosperity. I pray for you today as well as tomorrow, because no matter what happens in this life—whether it’s good or bad—you can always be assured of one thing: God loves you and has a plan for your life!

Night Prayers to Pray in the Evening Before Bed

Praying at Night

Similar to why we should pray in the morning, praying at the end of the day is an opportunity to thank the Lord for the blessings He gives and the protection He provided us to live another day. Finishing your day with prayer is a powerful way to let go of anxiety and find peace before falling asleep.

Regardless of what you suffered today, talking to God through a night prayer will revive your faith and assist you to sleep in peace. Evening prayers also help you review all the experiences during your day and the ways that God has been present with you.

5 Night Prayers

Here are some night prayers to end your day in thanksgiving to God and asking Him for peaceful sleep in His protection:

A Biblical Night-time Prayer (2 Timothy 1:7)

For God’s not given me a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, and of power, and a sound mind, to live each day and glorify his name.

Shepherd, Watch While We Sleep

Beloved Shepherd of our souls and bodies, you never slumber nor sleep. Spread your holy protection over us and cover us with your mighty wings, that no terrors of the night may disturb us, and let your divine majesty watch over our minds while we sleep; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Evening Prayer for Peace

O Lord, let your tranquility dwell among us, and let your peace remain in our hearts. May our voices proclaim your truth, and may your cross be the guardian of our souls. O Lord, make us bold, make us worthy to offer to you pure and holy prayer; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Source: Liturgy of the Nestorians, fifth century

Night-time Blessing Prayer

Dear God, Thank you for your great love and blessing over our lives. Thank you that your favor has no end, but it lasts for our entire lifetime. Forgive us for sometimes forgetting that you are intimately acquainted with all of our ways, that you know what concerns us, and you cover us, as with a shield. We ask for your guidance so that we might walk fully in your blessing and goodness today. We ask that your face would shine on us. That you would open the right doors for our lives and for our loved ones, that you would close the wrong doors and protect us from those we need to walk away from. Establish the work of our hands and bring to fulfillment all that you have given us to do in these days. We pray that you would make our way purposeful and our footsteps firm out of your goodness and love. Give us a heart of wisdom to hear your voice, and make us strong by your huge favor and grace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. ~ Debbie McDaniel

A Beautiful Prayer to End the Day

Heavenly Father, my day is drawing to an end, and I’m ready to turn in. But before I do, I have to thank you for your faithfulness today. It’s always a good day, even when things may not go the way I plan, or when the world seems in chaos because you are in control.

For all the times when I was aware of your help today, all the times when your unseen presence seemed so near, thank you, God. But for all the ways you worked behind the scenes, unknown to me, moments when heaven-sent angels moved on my behalf in ways I’ll never know, thank you for those also, Lord. Amen. ~ Rebecca Barlow Jordan

For A Good Night’s Sleep

Grant me a good night’s sleep tonight, God, so that I can awake refreshed and ready to begin another day loving you. Thank you again for blessings so undeserved and too numerous to count. I love being your child, and I long for the word “faithful” to describe my service to you, each day of every year. When I awake in the morning, may it be with a joyful smile, not a grumpy spirit. May your protection and your presence bathe this place with peace and safety against the enemy. Good night, Lord. In Jesus’s name, Amen. ~ Rebecca Barlow Jordan

Heavenly Father, who gives rest to His children – will You wash over me a peace that passes all understanding as I lay down to sleep tonight?  I ask that You would ease the load of the burdens I am carrying.  My desire is to be an effective mother, wife, and friend and I know my attitude, energy level, and spiritual life will not be sufficient to do this if I don’t have the deep spiritual rest You long to give me.  Be merciful, O Lord, and give sweet sleep to Your child. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. ~ Lysa TerKeurst
