I prayed for my new driver. Immediately, I could tell things were going to be different for me. Alpha Driving School has some of the best driving instructors in Durham and surrounding areas. I really felt comfortable with the whole process.
On average, one person gets injured on our roadways every 12 minutes. This may not seem like a lot of accidents at first glance but when you consider the fact that traffic deaths are one of the leading causes for death for Americans under the age of 18, it becomes more alarming. In fact, over 3,000 of these fatalities happen to children in our country each year.
How to Pray for New Drivers: A blog about praying for new drivers, Patron Saint of Driving Prayer, Prayers for Passing Your Driving Test and the ones you love.
I pray to God and ask him to provide me a perfect vehicle that would serve all my transportation needs effectively. I am looking forward to drive this vehicle, so that I do not find myself in any difficulty in future. The prayer has great power, as it is a word from the almighty and there are great possibilities of getting an efficient car for you.
Dear God, please help our new driver to be safe and cautious. We know you are always with us, and we ask that you watch over our driver in their travels. Please be with them as they learn the road, and keep them from harm. We thank you for this opportunity to help others in their time of need, and pray that you will bless us all with your protection as we travel on this journey together. In your name, Amen
Dear God,
I pray that you will give me the strength to stay safe while driving. I pray that my new driver’s license is approved and that I don’t get pulled over for any reason. I know that I am still learning and growing as a driver, so please help me avoid accidents and make me a safe driver. Please let my family members be safe, too, as they have been praying for me about my driving skills. I love them very much and want them to be in good health.
Dear Lord,
We pray for new drivers. We pray that they may be safe on the roads and that they are able to get where they need to go. We pray that all drivers are respectful of one another and drive according to the law. We pray for good weather and clear roads so that no one is hurt or killed as a result of accidents caused by weather conditions or poor road maintenance. We pray for those who have been injured in accidents, that they may be healed and returned to their families in good health. Amen.
Dear God,
Please bless my son [son’s name] as he begins his journey as a new driver. Please keep him safe and guide him as he learns to drive. Please help him to be a responsible driver who obeys all traffic laws, drives carefully and safely, and respects the rights of other drivers on the road. Please protect him from accidents, injuries and death. Protect him from temptation to drink alcohol or use drugs while driving. Help him to be considerate of other drivers so that he does not endanger any lives by his actions or inactions while driving. Help him to be careful with his speed so that he does not endanger himself or others on the road.
Please protect all those who are driving with him today: his parents [parents’ names], his siblings [siblings’ names] and their friends who may be traveling with them today as well. Protect them from harm as they travel together today in this car—whether they are riding in the front seat or in back seats of cars driven by others today—and please keep them safe from harm caused by others around them as well.
Protect all passengers on public transportation today (buses, trains, airplanes) that carry people across state lines; these vehicles carry many people each day between cities
Dear God,
We ask that you keep our friend and family member safe as they begin their journey in driving.
We pray that you guide them through the moments when they are unsure of what to do, and that you help them make the best decisions possible.
We pray that you protect them from danger, and give them the strength to remain calm in stressful situations.
We ask that you guide them to make wise decisions about driving, like staying off their phone while at the wheel and obeying traffic laws.
We pray for this person’s safety as they drive, but also for their peace of mind as they learn how to be a responsible driver. We ask this in Jesus’ name, amen!

Patron Saint of Driving Prayer
St. Christopher is the patron saint of driving because he protects travelers from accidents while driving. This prayer was written by St. Charles Borromeo (1538-1584) who was the Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, Italy during the Counter-Reformation era. He also wrote this prayer to help people pass their driving tests – which was very important back then because many people didn’t own cars and relied on public transportation instead! Nowadays we drive more than ever before so it makes sense that St. Christopher would want to protect us as we travel around town!
Prayers for Passing Your Driving Test
If you are preparing for your driving test soon then please pray this powerful prayer below:
O Glorious St Christopher: I implore thy patronage in this my hour of need; obtain for me that strength which comes only from God; give me courage and patience during these days of preparation; help me to resist temptations by which
Dear God,
We pray for the safety of those who are learning how to drive.
Let them be taught by their parents, and let them practice on quiet streets with no traffic or pedestrians.
Keep them away from school zones, because children are unpredictable and may dart out into the street at any moment.
Please help them not to text while driving, or eat while driving, or put on makeup while driving.
Forgive us all for our mistakes in the past; we know that we have made mistakes in our time behind the wheel, but we have learned from those mistakes and are now working hard not to repeat them.
Dear God,
Please help my son drive safely and responsibly.
He recently got his license and is planning to use it to drive himself to work every day.
I’m worried he’ll be distracted by his phone or radio. Please keep his eyes on the road at all times, so he can see any obstacles or people who are in his way. Help him avoid accidents and keep me safe as well.
Please also help him to make good decisions about when to get off the phone or stop listening to music so that he can pay attention when driving.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
