Lord Jesus Christ, You are the divine physician and we trust in Your power to heal.

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the divine physician and we trust in Your power to heal. Hear our prayers for the sick, comfort them in their pain and restore them to full health again.

Hear our prayers for the sick and infirm.

  • The prayer is offered for all who are sick, whether their illness be physical or spiritual.
  • The prayer may be said for a particular person who has asked you to pray for them, or it may be said as part of your own daily devotional life.
  • The words of the prayer can be spoken aloud by anyone who feels called to offer up this special intention on behalf of others; alternatively, they can simply be silently recited within one’s mind (or even heart) while thinking about those in need of healing and grace.

Comfort them in their pain and restore them to full health again.

In these troubling times, it’s easy to get caught up in our own pain and loss. Prayer is an important part of the healing process—but sometimes even prayer can feel shallow and inadequate. If you’re struggling with how best to pray for someone who is sick or dying, these prayers are here for you. They’re meant to help you heal and find comfort at this difficult time.

Written by a Catholic priest, this prayer book contains both liturgical prayers as well as more free-form meditations on illness itself: “If we are seeking prayerfully and humbly for God’s will in our lives, then all things happen according to His plan.”

Prayer for my sick friend

Dear Lord,

I pray that you will heal him from his illness and also from any demons that may be tormenting him. Please give him strength to get through this difficult time and help him to recognize that he is not alone in his suffering. I pray that you will comfort his family in this time of sorrow, give them the strength they need to continue on and help them find peace in knowing that they are never alone in their pain. Help them to find comfort in knowing that their son/brother/husband/father has already gone home to be with you and they will see him again someday when they come home to you too. I ask all these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear God, Please heal my friend who is ill. Please give him/her strength and courage to fight this disease. Comfort him/her and his family during this difficult time. Give them peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20

Prayer for the Sick & Dying

Dear Lord, I come to you in prayer for the sick and dying.

I ask that you give them strength and comfort during their illness, and peace as they enter into the next life.

I ask that you heal their bodies, soothe their minds, and calm their souls.

Help them to know your love and accept it into their hearts.

Let me be an instrument in your hands to help others who are sick or dying through my words of encouragement and comfort. Amen

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am here to pray for the sick and dying. I pray that you would give comfort and peace to all those who are suffering from diseases, pain and death. I pray for those who have lost loved ones and for those who are grieving. I pray that you would strengthen them in their time of need and guide them to where they need to be. I also pray that you would give strength to those who are caregivers or have been asked to be caregivers by loved ones during their time of need. Give them strength in these times of sorrow, grief and pain so they can continue on with life knowing they did everything they could do in order to make their loved ones well again. In Jesus name I pray amen

Father, we pray that You would send Your angels to minister to them at this time.

As we pray for the sick, it’s important to remember that we are praying for God’s will to be done in their lives. If He chooses not to heal them or does not heal them in this life, then He knows what is best for them and wants what is best for them.

We thank You that Your angels minister to us day and night (Hebrews 1:14). We ask that You would send Your angels on behalf of these individuals as they go through treatments or surgeries. Send Your angels with comfort and joy so they can rest in peace and know that You are with them even though they may be feeling alone right now. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray:

That they might be surrounded with Your loving care and protection as they seek healing.

God is always with us. He knows our hearts, and He is a healer. God sent His son to save us from sin and death, and the Holy Spirit is within every believer to give them the strength to endure anything that comes their way. God will never leave you or forsake you; He will give you peace during this time of suffering.

Father God, I am asking today that you would touch those who are ill right now.

Father God, I am asking today that you would touch those who are ill right now.

I know that through the power of your Spirit and the goodness of your grace, they will be healed and well again.

I pray that doctors would find the answers they need to heal their patients.

I pray for families who are suffering through illness in their loved ones to know peace and strength during this time.

May all people who are ill experience a full recovery from their sicknesses!

short prayer for the sick

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” —Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

God’s Word is full of promises about healing. Jesus healed many people during His earthly ministry, and He continues to heal today through His Holy Spirit working in believers’ lives. He will heal you if you trust Him and ask Him to do so! You can be confident that God will restore your body to full health and strength again according to His promise in Isaiah 53:5 (NIV).

Father God, please send Your Holy Spirit into my life right now to bring me peace as I pray for ___________’s health situation/illness/condition _____________to be restored according your word found at Isaiah 53:5 ____________and all other related scriptures.

By your stripes, we were healed! Praying for the sick is a part of our Christian walk.

The Christian walk is full of many wonderful things that God has given us. Prayer is undoubtedly one of them. We should make use of this gift and pray for those who are sick, whether they are close to us or not.

Prayer is powerful! It can change lives and situations in ways that we could never imagine on our own. The Apostle Paul says in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 that “God desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (NIV). Therefore, we must pray for all people—even those who may not share our faith—to receive salvation from their sinfulness through Jesus Christ.

We must also remember what Jesus did for us on the cross! His death paid for our sins so that we don’t have to pay for them ourselves when we die (Romans 5:8). By His stripes we have been healed (Isaiah 53:5) so that even if someone has cancer or any other sickness causing pain and suffering, they can still be redeemed by Him because they were bought with His blood (1 Corinthians 6:20).

prayer for healing for a family member bible verse

Dear God, please help my family member to feel better. I know that they are not feeling well, and they are having a hard time. Please help them to get better soon. Thank you for listening to my prayer and helping me out with this.

Whether we or loved ones are sick, we can pray for healing.

Whether you or your loved ones are sick, we can pray for healing. We know that God is able to heal and restore us physically, mentally, and emotionally.

When praying for yourself:

  • You can ask God to heal your body in whatever way is best for you and your life. This may be a physical healing or a mental one—for example, if you are suffering from depression or anxiety. In this case, it might be helpful to express gratitude for the many ways that God cares for us such as through food, water and air (Psalm 104:4–9). Also consider asking Him to help with any other aspects of health such as strength or energy levels; these things rely on our bodies working properly so we should always be thankful when they do!

When praying for others:

  • You could pray specifically about their physical ailments as well as other areas of their lives where they may need guidance or strength from God. A good starting point would be expressing gratitude over the fact that Jesus died on the cross so that all people could have forgiveness through His sacrifice (John 3:16). It’s also important not just saying this but believing it too!
