The Santo Niño de Atocha Prayer is a prayer to the Child Jesus in the Philippines. It was written by a priest named Fr. Juan de Plasencia in 1596, during the time when the Philippines was under Spanish rule.
The Santo Niño de Atocha Prayer is also known as the “Prayer for Peace”. This prayer is recited during times of war or when there are natural calamities hitting our country.
The word “santo” means holy and “nino” means child; therefore, it can be translated to “Holy Child”.
The Santo Niño de Atocha is a Christian icon representing the Child Jesus. It is said to have been found on the shores of Manila Bay in 1596 by a poor fisherman named Juan Gonzales. The image, which was made of ivory and gold, was initially called Nuestra Senora del Santisimo Rosario (Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary). In 1663, it was renamed as the Santo Niño de Cebu after it was brought to Cebu by Augustinian friars.
The icon is often depicted as having fair skin and golden hair, with a blue robe and wearing a crown. He holds a cross in his right hand and a globe in his left hand.

santo nino de atocha prayer in english
Dear Lord, we thank Thee for the gift of Santo Niño de Atocha, who intercedes for us before the throne of God.
We pray that Thou wilt bless the Philippines and its people with peace and prosperity.
We pray that Thou wilt protect our children, families and loved ones.
We pray that Thou wilt sustain us through life’s struggles and trials.
We pray that Thou wilt give us strength to persevere in our faith as Catholics and Filipinos.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen
Dear Saint Niño de Atocha,
I am a child of God and I love you.
Please help me to be a good child and to obey my parents, because they love me very much.
Please teach me how to read the Holy Bible and how to pray the Rosary every day.
Please help me to learn about God’s love for me, and how he wants me to show His love for others.
I ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen!
O Holy Child of Atocha, look down upon us, who adore thee and offer thee our prayers.
Prostrate before the majesty of our God, behold Him whom you adore and who has redeemed you, who is your only Lord and Master.
O Infant Jesus! My heart is overflowing with gratitude for the favors which thou hast obtained for me. My soul delights in thy goodness, my spirit rejoices in thy mercy; and I am consumed with love for thee.
I love Thee, O my beloved Jesus! I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me; because Thou hast died for me; because Thou hast paid for all my sins; because Thou hast shown me such great kindness as to call me by thy name; because Thou art my King and my God.
I love Thee, O my beloved Jesus! I love Thee with all my heart, with all my mind and soul. Give me strength to do Thy will always on earth as it is done in heaven. Make me worthy to appear before Thee at last on the day of judgment that I may sing with thee: “Hosanna to the Son of David!”
Oh Holy Child of Atocha,
your life was short but powerful.
Your death was sweet and your resurrection glorious.
You are the sign of love, and of the new life that we hope for.
We pray to you, dear child, to grant us all the gifts of faith, hope and love.
Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
