Relaxing In The Presence Of God

Relaxing in the presence of God is one of the best ways to combat stress.

When we are relaxed, we are able to think more clearly and make decisions more easily. We can be less reactive and more in control of our lives. In fact, relaxation is an important part of any self-care routine.

Relaxation techniques can be as simple as listening to music or taking a warm bath. They may also involve meditation or yoga exercises. Whatever method you choose, make sure it feels good and helps you relax.

Here are some tips for relaxing in the presence of God:

Set aside some time each day for quiet reflection or meditation. This could mean sitting quietly for five minutes at the end of your day or going for a walk in nature after work — whatever gives you the space and time needed to reflect on what happened during the day and what needs your attention tomorrow morning.

Take time before bed each night to pray or read Scripture, even if it’s only a few minutes out of your busy schedule. Many people find that this helps them sleep better because they feel more at peace with God before going to sleep than they do otherwise.

In the book of Psalms, we find many wonderful descriptions of the Lord. He is described as our Shepherd and our Rock. He is our Fortress and our Tower of Strength. He is our Shield and our Buckler. And He is also described as being a very personal God who cares for His children and longs to interact with them on a daily basis.

In Psalm 46:10, we read these words: “Be still and know that I am God.” It’s interesting that this verse starts with the word “be still.” Many times when we feel stressed or overwhelmed, we find ourselves rushing around trying to get things done. It’s as if we think if we can just keep going long enough, everything will be okay. But often this isn’t true at all. In fact, it may even make things worse because rushing around without taking any time to stop can cause us to miss what God has planned for us in those moments!

So how do we obey this verse? How do we learn to relax in the presence of God? There are several ways that you can do this:

In these days of stress and worry, I find that it is good to relax and let the cares of the day go. As I lay down at night, I often ask for God’s presence in my room and in my bed. I know that He is there with me and He will help me relax. It is very important for us to take time out for ourselves each day. We need to rest from our daily worries, enjoy some quiet time, and refresh our minds by reading something uplifting or listening to some beautiful music.

I really enjoy watching a good movie on television at home after dinner or while everyone else is doing their homework or cleaning up around the house. It gives me a chance to unwind after a busy day at school or work. I like comedies best because they make me laugh out loud!

By Ann Voskamp

God is the only One who can give us peace. He is the only One who can give us rest. He is the only One who can calm the storm of our souls and still the storm of our lives.

We are all called to live in the presence of God — to sit with Him and hear His word, to abide in Him and drink from His cup, to enjoy Him and delight in Him and bask in His glory.

But so many of us avoid God because we’re weary of hearing about sin. So many of us avoid God because we don’t want to pray anymore, we don’t want to repent anymore, we don’t want to be accountable anymore. We think it’s easier to live without God than live with Him through hard times — because even when He comforts us with His presence, there’s still pain from sin that brings us down into sadness or melancholy or depression or discouragement or anger or whatever else you might call it when your soul feels like it’s drowning in grief because of what you’ve done wrong in this life…

But here’s something I’ve learned: If you run away from God when things get tough — if you refuse

Relaxing In The Presence Of God

As a pastor, I have been blessed with many opportunities to minister to people all over the world. One of my favorite things about ministry is getting to meet so many wonderful people and seeing how God uniquely works in each person’s life.

One particular visit stands out as one of the most memorable times I’ve had on the job. It was a cold winter evening in Indiana. We were holding a revival at a large church in Indianapolis and had just finished preaching for two nights in a row. We were all tired but happy because we knew we had done good work for God that weekend.

The pastor and his wife invited us over for dinner that evening, which was very kind of them since they didn’t know us from Adam. They asked if we could join them at their house for dinner, so we said yes and set out on our way. It was a 40-minute drive from the church to their house, but it seemed like it took forever because there was so much traffic that night due to an ice storm that had hit the area earlier in the day.

When we finally arrived at their house, they led us into their living room where we sat down on comfortable couches while they prepared dinner
