Heart is the center of a man’s being and his thoughts. It is his emotional center and also the seat of his will power. A man who has a good heart is called “good,” and he who has a bad heart is called “bad.” The Bible says that the heart of man cannot be changed except by God himself (Jeremiah 17:9). When Jesus was on earth, he told people what they needed to do to have a right relationship with God through him and gave them hope for salvation (John 3:16). But today we live in an age when many people do not want to listen to God’s Word or obey it (Psalm 119:80). They want to live their own lives without having God interfere with them or tell them what to do. So they refuse to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior from sin, even though they know that eventually they will die spiritually if they do not receive him! Such people have hardened hearts because they refuse God’s offer of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches us that our hearts can become hardened by sin. This means that God has made our hearts insensitive to His truth, so we no longer care about what He thinks or desires for us. Our hearts are also hardened by sin when we make choices contrary to what God wants us to do (Exodus 8:15).

But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.” (Matthew 11:21-24)

All things are yours, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all belong to you, 23 and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.
