1 John 3:15-16

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

1 John 3:15-17, NIV: “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”

Killing the innocent is a sin according to the Bible. God is a just God and He will judge those who murder the innocent.

God has given us His Word so that we can know what pleases Him and what displeases Him. The Bible tells us that we are to obey God’s commands without fail.

Here are some passages from the Bible that show us that killing the innocent is wrong:

Exodus 20:13 “You shall not murder.”

Genesis 9:6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.”

Romans 13:1 “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.”

Proverbs 6:16-19 “There are six things that Jehovah hates, Seven that are an abomination to him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands shedding innocent blood, A heart fabricating wicked schemes, Feet hastening to run to badness, A false witness who utters lies And one who sows discord among brothers.

Bible Verses About Hurting The Innocent

1 Samuel 15:3-4

Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.”

Psalm 82:4-6

Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Rescue them from the clutches of evil men; rescue them from the grasp of cruel men. They do not know how to do right, they do not understand justice. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

The Bible is the most widely read book in the world and has been translated into more than 2,000 languages. It is the most important book in the history of Western Civilization and has significantly influenced culture, law and politics.

It is also a book that is full of contradictions and moral dilemmas. For example, one of the most controversial passages in the Bible is Exodus 22:2-3 which reads: “If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him.”

This passage has been interpreted to mean that killing someone who breaks into your house at night is not murder if they die from their injuries during an attempt to escape. This interpretation ignores the fact that someone who breaks into your home may not have any intention of escaping but may simply be looking for money or valuables.

In addition to this passage there are many other verses in the Bible which could be used by some Christians to justify killing people who don’t share their beliefs or lifestyle choices including LGBT people.

Genesis 9:6

Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.

Leviticus 19:16

You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD.

1 Samuel 15:3

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

John 8:7-8

The woman said to him, “Sir, I see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain; but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know; for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming — indeed it has come — when true worshippers will worship the Father
