This is the story about Lazarus: He was a man who lived in the city of Bethany. He was very poor and lived with his sisters, Mary and Martha. One day Jesus came to visit them. They were so happy to see him! When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she ran out to meet him. Mary stayed in the house and waited for her turn to greet Jesus. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died!” (John 11:21). She thought that if Jesus had come sooner, they could have helped Lazarus get better. If you go back there now, they will surely kill you!”
