As a society, we’ve always had some pretty deep and life-altering difficulties. And these difficulties often lead to excruciating pain, heartbreak, trauma, and strong feelings of helplessness. The family is a special part of society because it is where people learn the values that will help them through the trials of life. Of course, we all know that families aren’t picture-perfect, and that some people have it much harder than average. When a community comes together to pray and offer other forms of support, it helps families flourish. My choice to write about the power of family prayer during times of hardship was motivated by the knowledge that this is a real-world problem that many people will inevitably face.

Prayer For Strength
I will pray to you, O Lord my God. I will pray to you for the time of your favor and ask for your mercy in the morning. I hope that you will hear me. Morning by morning, I will go to your temple and praise your name forever and ever. Psalm 5:3-4
One of the best ways to cope with adversity is through prayer. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, pray to God for His help. If you pray to God, He will hear your cries and comfort you as you go through this trial.
The purpose of a prayer need not be to petition God for anything. Being still in His presence and giving thanks for all He has done is prayer.
Peace of mind can be elusive during trying times because of the multitude of distractions that crowd one’s attention. Here are some verses from the Bible to meditate on as you pray for calm in the midst of chaos:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” John 14:27
“For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

Lord Jesus Christ, I come to Thee today with my heart full of sorrow and anxiety. I feel that I cannot bear the burden of my troubles alone. I have no hope of relief from human aid; therefore I turn to Thee, O Lord, for Thy tender mercy and compassion. Thou art my only hope in this dark hour of my life. Guide me along the path which Thou wouldst have me go.
