Prayer in a time of death in family is a must. It becomes very essential part when you are going through such lost. You cease to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and all you feel is darkness surrounding you. In such situation, it goes without saying that one need a prayer for death in family.
One of the toughest things for a family to endure is when one or more of its members is on their deathbed. As we become more sophisticated and medical advances prolong life, many who are gravely ill are no longer expected to die. However, there have been certain times in history where death was expected and prayed for. Catholics understand that people can lose all hope when they enter into the final stages of a terminal illness. As a part of this natural process in which we leave this world and enter into eternal life, millions have asked for the graces of God to speed up the process and see death as a blessing rather than something to be feared.
Last week I held my grandmother’s hand and watched her take her last few breaths. Her time here was done, and she was ready to go. She had lived a long life, being born well before the turn of the century. She did everything from riding in an outboard motor boat to flying in an airplane before she died. Her life was amazing, blessed at every turn with loving family and friends throughout the whole process. Her passing was peaceful, like she had no worries about where she was leaving us for her final journey.
Prayer For Death In Family
Dear God,
I pray that the knowledge of death and its finality will not keep me from living fully in this life. I pray that if my loved one is at peace with the Lord, I will be able to rejoice in their new life. If they are not yet at peace, that I will know how to help them find it.
I pray for peace for myself as well as for my family who are mourning this loss. May we find comfort in our faith in Jesus Christ and in each other. Amen
