Prayers To Overcome Jealousy

Did you realize there are several types of jealousy? When two children strive for their parents’ attention, this is known as sibling rivalry. The other type is romantic jealousy, which occurs when a person is envious of their partner’s attention to someone else.

Jealousy is a typical feeling that we all experience. We strive to contain our jealousy, but when anything sparks it, it rears its ugly head and takes control of us. It may be quite tough to overcome envy at times, no matter how hard we try. Jealousy is more than simply a bad emotion; it manifests itself in damaging behaviors that have a significant impact on our personal relationships, health, and professional lives.

It destroys relationships. Jealousy is one of the most strong negative emotions, capable of pushing people to engage in illogical behavior such as murder and theft. It might put strain on your relationships and disrupt your sleep. In severe circumstances, it can make you physically and emotionally ill.

Prayers To Overcome Jealousy

Prayers To Overcome Jealousy

Dear God,

I ask you to forgive me for my jealousy. It is a sin to be jealous and I hope that you will forgive me. Please help me overcome this jealousy and replace it with love. Thank you for all your blessings and keep me from being jealous in the future.

Amen

There are many ways to overcome jealousy, but one of the most effective is prayer. Prayers to overcome jealousy can help you find peace, comfort and healing in your life.

Here are some prayers for overcoming jealousy:

“Lord, I am jealous of those who are not jealous of me. I am envious of those who are not envious of me. I am sad because they are happy. Forgive me Lord.” – St. Augustine

“Lord grant me the grace of chastity and continence, but not yet.” – Augustine of Hippo (354-430)

“No matter what happens or what you hear, don’t be jealous.” – Unknown

“You have a right to be angry, but not to hurt others with your anger.” – Thomas Merton (1915-1968)

The Bible is full of examples of people who had jealous feelings, but overcame them and grew closer to God.

David

David was a man after God’s own heart. He wrote many of the Psalms, including Psalm 51 and Psalm 139. But David also had his struggles with jealousy. When David saw that Saul’s daughter Michal loved someone else, he became insanely jealous and said to himself, “Saul has given him Michal, but I have not been given her.” (1 Samuel 25:44)

David’s solution was to pray for God to take away his feelings of jealousy. He said: “You are fair, my love; there is no flaw in you.” (Song of Solomon 4:7) David knew that his feelings were not from God and so he asked God to remove them from him.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Prayer for Peace

O God of Love, God of Peace: Teach us the way of peace. Help us to follow it in all things. Teach us to pray for our enemies and those who persecute us. Help us always to forgive those who wrong us and harm us out of ignorance or malice or weakness or fear or anger or jealousy or greed or pride. Give us strength always to forgive each other our faults and failings and sins against you, even when they seem unforgivable by others’ standards of judgement and justice. Give us grace always

Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has granted us life, sustained us and enabled us to reach this season.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has granted us life, sustained us and enabled us to reach this season.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has given us the Torah of life and love to guide us in this world.

Please give me the strength and wisdom to handle this situation as best as possible.

I ask that you take away any feelings of jealousy or anger that I may have towards him so that we can move forward in our relationship together as husband and wife. Thank you for hearing my prayer. Amen

I pray that the Lord will protect me from any harm caused by them, and that my work will be done well regardless of their actions and behavior towards me.

I pray that the Lord will guide my steps as I move forward on this job, and that he will give me wisdom to know what to do next. I pray that he will show me how to overcome this situation in a way that is pleasing to him.

In Jesus’ name, amen

Lord Jesus Christ, I pray that you will keep my mind and heart filled with your love and mercy and not be jealous of anyone else’s success. May I never be jealous of the success of others.

I pray that you will help me to be a positive influence on those around me. I pray that I will always be a good example of faith in action and may I never be envious or jealous of anyone else’s achievements, but rather proud to see them succeed in their endeavors.

Lord Jesus Christ, help me to always remember that life is not about what I have done or accomplished, but rather about what You have done for me and how You have used me to help others along the way. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen

O God, I thank you for the blessings of my life. I know that no matter what it may look like to others, you are always with me.

Lord, help me to know that jealousy is not your will for me and my life. I pray that you will fill my heart with your love and peace so that when people around me are jealous of me, they will see Jesus in me and be drawn to you.

Lord, help me to deal with people who are jealous of me in a godly way. Help me to speak truth in love at all times so that I can live out the fruit of the spirit. Help me to trust you with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding but trust in you alone for wisdom and guidance in this situation.

Lord, give us grace to be content with our current position in life and not covet what others have or what they do. Help us to be happy when others receive promotions or praise from their superiors because we know that we are not seeking our own glory but yours alone. Help us not seek promotion or praise from others but rather seek only what pleases You!
