Prayers To Mother Of Perpetual Help

As you navigate the waters of life, you have come to realize that every decision you make has repercussions. You may have to face these repercussions in this lifetime, or perhaps in a future lifetime. Either way, knowledge is power and having an understanding of how our actions affect each other consciously or subconsciously can truly empower us to make a positive impact on the world.

Prayers to Mother of Perpetual Help (also known as the Holy Helper of the Sick), is an ancient prayer. This prayer has been permanently imprinted on the hearts of millions of people since records could be kept. The number of people who have turned to this prayer in difficult times are uncountable and many more will rely on it to ask for heavenly help in the future. The number of preserved faithful copies is beyond compare. Millions upon millions of these little gems are distributed around the world every year, and have been doing so since they were first printed in the early 18th century.

There’s a reason why I put the phrase “Mother of Perpetual Help” in quotation marks. It is not because I am disrespectful, but rather because it is a threefold prayer with various meanings to different people. Some simply think it means The Virgin Mary is the Mother of God, others think that it refers to the continuous help she offers us in securing our salvation, yet others think it signifies that her help is always prompt and available for us to obtain all benefits.

Prayers To Mother Of Perpetual Help

Mother of Perpetual Help, you are the refuge of sinners, the comfort of the afflicted and the hope of the hopeless. You are our advocate and our refuge in time of trouble. You are a tower of strength to those who call upon you in their need, for you were given to us by God as our helper.

From the treasury of your merits we bring forth this prayer:

O Mother of Perpetual Help, be our advocate with Jesus, so that He may hear our prayers and obtain for us all that we ask through His infinite merits. Amen!

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us!

The Mother of Perpetual help is the patroness of the Philippines and the Americas. She is also known as the Mother of Graces or Our Lady of Good Help.

She is a symbol of hope, protection, love and comfort for all those who seek her intercession.

This prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Help contains a short history about her life as well as some basic prayers and devotions you can use to ask for her help in your daily life.

Mother of Perpetual Help

I turn to you today, Mother of Perpetual Help, for your intercession and protection. Your loving heart has always been inclined toward those who call upon you, and I am confident that you will not turn me away in my hour of need. You are the Mother of God’s love for us, and desire above all else to see us happy in heaven with Him. I pray that you will help me to make this possible by asking God to grant me the graces needed to live a holy life and please Him.

Please intercede for me now, dear Mother, as I ask God to be merciful to me in my time of trial. My faith is weak and my heart is cold; please warm them both with your love so that they may burn brightly with the fire of divine charity. Amen.

Mother of Perpetual Help

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Apostle’s Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified died and was buried. He descended into Hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; ascended into Heaven; sits at the right hand of God; from thence he shall come to judge the living and dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of this body and life everlasting. Amen

Since the Church’s beginnings, prayers to Virgin Mary have held a place of honor for Catholics.

Here are some of the most fundamental and majestic.

These prayers to Virgin Mary take varied forms. Most of them combine:

  • Prayers to God, modeled after the faith of Mary.
  • Meditations on the Incarnation, Mary’s unique role in salvation history, or her perfect examples of virtues like faith, humility, and charity.
  • Prayers to Mary, asking for her help and protection.

Like all prayers to Saints, our prayers to Virgin Mary rely on the Saints’ special power to intercede for us before Christ and the Father. But since Mary has a unique role in salvation, and a unique relationship to the Trinity, our prayers to the Blessed Virgin also rely on her special power of intercession.

“Mary is the perfect Orans (pray-er), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus’ mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope.” (Catechism, 2679)

“Because of Mary’s singular cooperation with the action of the Holy Spirit, the Church loves to pray in communion with the Virgin Mary, to magnify with her the great things the Lord has done for her, and to entrust supplications and praises to her.” (Catechism, 2682)

This is a collection of some of the more cherished Catholic prayers to Virgin Mary.

Hail Mary

The Hail Mary is a well-loved and beautiful basic Catholic prayer. It’s one of the essential prayers to Virgin Mary. It combines two lines from Scripture (Lk 1:28 and Lk 1:42) with a humble request for Mary to pray for us.

The Angelus

The Angelus is a meditation on the Incarnation, and Mary’s role in it. Like all prayers to Virgin Mary, we ask her for guidance and prayers. The first three verses are taken from Scripture.

The Angelus is traditionally said daily at 12 noon. Many Catholic churches ring their church bells at noon, the _Angelus bells_, to call the faithful to prayer.

Prayer of Intercession to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Mother of GOD,

you are worthy to be adored,

glorified and loved with all the love with which the Most Holy Trinity Loves You:

Pray for us now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

“Holy, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I consecrate my heart to thee in order that it may be a living temple of love for thee.

“My Immaculate Mother, I entrust to thy care all the needs of my life and the lives of those whom I love.

“O Mother Most Pure, who by thy angelic purity has deserved to be named ‘Immaculate’ by God Himself; O Mother Most Chaste, who by thy virginal purity has been so greatly loved by God; O Mother Most Holy, who by thy divine sanctity has been raised above all other creatures in heaven and on earth; O Mother Most Merciful, who by thy compassion for our infirmities has been given such tender love for us sinners; O Mother Most Loving, who hast shown us that thou art truly our Mother because thou lovest us as we are with all our faults and weaknesses – bless me now in my work with all those whom I serve in body or soul.

“Mother of Mercy, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

I pray

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, I adore you. I consecrate myself to you. Enkindle in my heart the fire of your pure love and let it be a perfect holocaust to love God better, as He is deserving of all my love.

O Mother of God! You are the Treasurer of Mercy, the Dispenser of Graces, the Giver of Life; come and ask Jesus for me what I need most.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

O Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, you can ask whatever you want from Jesus. But ask him for me what I need most!

I consecrate to thee, Immaculate Heart of Mary, all my thoughts and works. I also consecrate to thee my family, relatives and friends, together with all the faithful who live in the world.

O loving Mother! Be thou present in my heart and protect me from the temptations which will beset me on all sides. Adorned with the mantle of thy immaculate purity, I shall be able defend myself against them. Permit not that anything impure may enter into me. Sanctify me by thy grace so that I may imitate thee in every way and become worthy of receiving thy love and favors.

O most pure Virgin! Show thyself a mother to me who am so unworthy of being thy child; teach me how to make good use of the time that remains until I die; help me to prepare for eternity by means of prayer; protect me from sin and guide me along the path which leads to heaven; obtain for me an abundance of grace and mercy from God our Father through Jesus Christ His Son; make known to him my needs; cause him to grant them graciously if it be for his glory and our salvation; but especially obtain for me pardon for all my sins,

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, we come before you in this hour of our need, with the most profound gratitude for all you have done for us and the world. We thank you for the mystery of your Immaculate Conception, which marks your body as a sign of perfect purity, a temple of God’s love.

We thank you for your perpetual virginity, which has made possible our salvation through the gift of Jesus Christ to humanity.

We thank you for your Assumption into Heaven and enthronement as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

We thank you for your intercession before God on behalf of sinners. In particular we come to ask that you pray for us now that we may be delivered from the forces which threaten to destroy us and our civilization including: war; famine; terrorism; drugs; pornography; abortion; euthanasia; cloning; population control programs; environmental degradation (deforestation); biotechnology (genetic engineering); pollution (nuclear waste); overpopulation (immigration).

This is often said as a group prayer, with the leader speaking the V parts and the group responding with the R lines. If you’re saying it alone, just read both parts together.

V. O God, come unto my assistance;
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory be to the Father, etc.
R. As it was, etc.
I. Immaculate Virgin, who being conceived without sin, didst direct every movement of thy most pure heart toward God, and wast always submissive to His divine will; obtain for me the grace to hate sin with all my heart and to learn from thee to live in perfect resignation to the will of God.
Our Father once and Hail Mary seven times.
II. O Mary, I wonder at that profound humility, which troubled thy blessed heart at the message of the Angel Gabriel, that thou hadst been chosen to be the Mother of the Son of the most high God, the while thou didst profess thyself His lowly handmaiden; ashamed at the sight of my own pride, I beg of thee the grace of a contrite and humble heart, so that, acknowledging my misery, I may come to attain the glory promised to those who are truly humble of heart.
Our Father once and Hail Mary seven times.
III. Blessed Virgin, who didst keep in thy heart the precious treasure of the words of Jesus thy Son and, pondering over the sublime mysteries therein contained, couldst live only for God, how am I confounded by the coldness of my heart! Ah, dear Mother, obtain for me the grace of meditating always on the holy law of God, and of seeking to follow thine example in the fervent practice of all the Christian virtues.
Our Father once and Hail Mary seven times.
IV. O glorious Queen of Martyrs, whose sacred heart, in the Passion of thy Son, was cruelly pierced by the sword foretold by the holy and aged Simeon; obtain for my heart true courage and holy patience to bear well the tribulations and trials of this wretched life; may I show myself to be thy true child by crucifying my flesh and all its desires in following the mortification of the Cross.
Our Father once and Hail Mary seven times.
V. O Mary, mystic rose, whose lovable heart, burning with the living fire of love, adopted us as thy children at the foot of the Cross, becoming thus our most tender Mother, make me experience the sweetness of thy motherly heart and the power of thine intercession with Jesus, in all the dangers that beset me during life, and especially at the dread hour of my death; in such wise may my heart be ever united to thine, and love Jesus both now and through endless ages. Amen.
Our Father once and Hail Mary seven times.

Wednesday Devotion To Our Mother Of Perpetual Help

The devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is a short prayer that we can recite at any time during the day. It serves as a reminder that we are not alone in our struggles, but rather, we have a mother who will help us through it all.

The devotion was written by a priest named Fr. Raphael Dugi in 1877 and has been translated into many languages since then. It is popular with Catholics around the world, especially those who are struggling with illness or loss.

The prayer begins with an invocation to Mary, asking her to intercede on behalf of those who pray it:

“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.”

Asking for help from Mary is a beautiful way to acknowledge our need for God’s grace in times of struggle. The next part of the prayer expresses hope for eternal salvation:

“Holy Mother of God, pray for us!”

This petition asks Mary to pray on behalf of those who ask her assistance so that they may receive eternal salvation and avoid damnation after death. The final part of the prayer acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior:

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, also known as Our Lady of Help, is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with a Roman Catholic Marian devotion and religious imagery focused on the Holy Face of Jesus, specifically an image that is said to have been miraculously imprinted on a cloth in Portugal during the 19th century. The name “Perpetual Help” comes from the fact that this image was originally venerated in the church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The image was once deemed miraculous by Pope Leo XIII who approved it for public veneration on February 2nd 1885. The cloth itself measures 9 inches by 12 inches and depicts Mary in a blue veil with stars around her head holding an infant Jesus in her arms while pointing to him with one finger while smiling at him lovingly. In front of them lies a golden cross and underneath are seven hearts representing seven sacraments which are Baptism Confirmation Eucharist Penance Extreme Unction Marriage Holy Orders Ordination (as well as Matrimony).

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, I place all my trust in you!

O Mother of Perpetual Help! I consecrate myself today to your Immaculate Heart. I give you my heart, that it may be yours forever; and I give You my mind and my will, that they may be always united in your divine love.

I promise to love you always, whatever happens to me during this day. If sadness or disappointment should come to me, I shall think of Your sorrowful Passion, and remember how much You suffered for me. If I meet with any success or prosperity, I shall offer it all to Your Immaculate Heart. If trials or difficulties arise during this day, I will unite them with your sufferings at the foot of the cross and offer them up immediately so that they may become for me means of greater sanctification.

O Mother of Perpetual Help! Behold my heart; accept it as a victim for love of You and for the conversion of sinners; make it Your dwelling place and Your throne on earth; reign there with Your Son Jesus Christ forever and ever! Amen.

O Mother of Perpetual Help, I kneel before you today, asking for your help and assistance. I come to you as a child seeking comfort, hope and guidance.

I am a sinner in need of forgiveness. Help me to be more like Jesus every day.

Grant me the strength to bear my crosses with patience and courage.

Help me to put aside my selfish desires and give myself completely to God.

I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

I am the Immaculate Conception. I was conceived without sin and am a model of virtue for all to follow.

I am the Mother of God, and by my prayers you can obtain all you ask of me, if your intentions are good.

I am the Mediatrix of all Graces, because I have ever been ready to assist my children in their needs.

I am the Refuge of Sinners, and He who has recourse to Me will never be lost.

I am the Patroness of the Sick, and My Son has given Me power over all diseases and sicknesses; therefore no one can be sick who invokes My powerful name.

I am the Queen of Heaven and Earth; therefore arise at once with confidence and trust in Me for help in every necessity that may arise for you or yours today or tomorrow or at any time during this year or years to come.
