studyChapterIsraelites,Recently, I’ve been commenting on the book of Deuteronomy for a Bible study class. In chapter 4, Moses is finishing up his final speech to the Israelites explaining the blessings and curses that come along with following God and the laws and promises He gives
them from now until eternity.
Scriptures declare the unique position of the Church in these last days: “Ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest…” (Hebrews 12:18) “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost , and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. For we neither…” (1 Thessalonians 1:5-6)
Bible Study On Chosen Generation
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9 (ESV) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Hebrews 3:1 (NIV) Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.
Hebrews 3:1 (ESV) Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, consider Jesus our apostle and high priest whom we confess.
1 Peter 2:9-10
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-10 is one of my favorite Bible verses. It’s about those who have been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. The word “chosen” means to pick out from others and set apart for some special purpose or task. The word “generation” means “the men and women in a particular period or age.”
In other words, God has picked out these men and women for a special task or work. They’re His chosen generation! They’ve been set apart for His purpose and work—and it’s a good thing because they’ve been given the job of showing forth His praises!
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9 (NASB)
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
The word “chosen” is translated from the Greek word eklektos (Strong’s #1689) which means “selected out of many.” It emphasizes the idea of selection rather than merely election. The word speaks of one who has been selected by personal choice or preference. This choice has to do with character as well as ability and fitness. It also implies that such choice was made before birth because it is impossible to choose someone after they have been born. The word comes from kloo (Strong’s #2896) which means “to have in view in a purposeful manner.” The idea is that God had this purposeful intention of choosing His children before He ever created the earth.\
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Both these verses have the same meaning. The concept is that God has made us into something special and different from all others. He chose us to be His people and to be part of His church. That’s why we are called Christians! What does this mean for us?
The Bible says that each of us is a royal priest.
The New International Version translates the Greek word for “royal” as “priestly.” Jesus was a Royal Priest, and so are you.
Jesus said that “the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son” (John 5:22).
The Father has delegated authority to the Son to rule and reign on His behalf. But the Son does not rule alone; He invites those who believe in Him to be part of His team. You are a member of His team. You are His teammate. You have been chosen by God to represent Him in this world.
Because you are a Royal Priest, you can minister with authority and power in Jesus’ name. And once you know that God has chosen you, He will use what He has given you for His glory and honor (1 Peter 4:11).
1 Peter 2:9-10 – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

In a professional tone
The chosen generation is a royal priesthood. 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)
1Peter 2:9-10 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
Chosen Generation Royal Priesthood Bible Verse
1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.Once again I am writing to remind you that your salvation comes by way of Christ Jesus. He is our peace and he has made us one with himself. He has destroyed all hostility between us by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. To this end he set up as an example for us his own body which was once dead because of sin but now has been made alive by being united with him through his death on the cross. In this manner he died for us so that we too might live for him. This is why we have been baptized into his death
The Bible is a book of prophecy. It tells us what will happen in the future. We find many prophecies in the Old Testament that have been fulfilled. The New Testament also contains many prophecies and we are told to expect their fulfillment in our lifetime.
Many Christians believe that most of these prophecies have already been fulfilled and that we are living in the last days before Christ’s return as King and Judge. If this is true, then it is very important for us to understand what these prophecies mean and how they apply to our lives today.
What is a chosen generation?
In 1 Peter 2:9, Peter wrote that we were chosen by God as a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9). He said that God has chosen us out of all the nations on earth to be His own special people (1 Peter 2:10). This means that we belong to Him and no one else! We have been set apart from all other nations by God Himself (1 Peter 2:9).
1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
In this verse we see that Christians are chosen people because God had set his love upon them. They are also given authority over all things as priests. This means they have the power to forgive sins and heal the sick. The word priest comes from the Hebrew word Kadeish which means “to separate” or “chosen one”.
The word nation is used in this verse to describe the Christian people as a whole because they have been chosen by God to be his own special possession by living holy lives in order to declare his praises and exalt him above all else.
The word dominion means “authority over all things” or “control over all aspects of life”. We have authority over every aspect of our lives because of Jesus Christ and what he has done for us on the cross!
