I often times wonder if we are truly grateful for all that God has given us, or if we take them for granted. Thanksgiving is a very important part of the Christian life. It brings joy to our hearts and helps us remember what God has done for us. Giving thanks to God not only strengthens our relationship with him but also brings peace and happiness into our lives.

When we feel like we have nothing to be thankful for, it’s easy to get down on ourselves and start feeling sorry for ourselves. This is especially true if we have been abused by others or have had bad things happen in our lives. However, when we focus on what we are grateful for instead of what we don’t have, it changes our whole perspective on life! It helps us see the good in all situations and reminds us that we really do have a reason to be happy despite our circumstances.
- Being grateful helps us avoid materialism and consumerism by putting things into perspective! When we focus on what is important in life (family, friends, relationships), it helps us realize how unimportant material possessions are compared to people in our lives! Materialism leads people away from God because it distracts them from focusing on spiritual things like

Thanksgiving Sermon
In the Bible, we have a whole book of sermons on Thanksgiving, Psalm 107. It is a time to take stock of where you are and what you have. The benefits are manifold.
The first benefit is that it helps us remember what God has done in our lives. God does not need any thanksgiving, but we benefit from giving thanks to Him because it gets us focused on what He has done in our lives.
The second benefit is that it makes us more aware of how much we have to give back to God. When we are thankful for what God has given us, we can become aware of how much more he deserves from us in return. Let me explain this with an example from my own experience:
When I was young, my father gave me a bike for Christmas one year. This was before I could ride it well so he had me sit on it and pedal around the house until I was strong enough to ride outside without falling off every few seconds (this took awhile). Once I was able to ride outside, he took me out every afternoon after school until I could ride around the block by myself without falling down once (this also took awhile). Then we
