Ignatius Study Old Testament

The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Old Testament is a must-have for every Christian who wants to understand the Scriptures more deeply. It offers not only a translation of the original Hebrew text but also commentary, study notes, and introductions to each book of the Bible. The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Old Testament is written by Catholic scholars and priests who have expertise in both Scripture and theology.

In 1 John 2:18, John gives a sobering warning to the church: “Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared.” A few verses later he says,”They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us.” In this study on “false teachers” we’re going to look at who these people are and what makes them false.

Ignatius Study Old Testament

As a new Catholic, it can be overwhelming to try to find your way through the Old Testament. There are so many names and places, and it can be hard to know where to begin. Fortunately, this study Bible offers a wonderful way to begin your journey through the Old Testament.

The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible was written by a Jesuit priest named Fr. John Bergsma. He has been studying scripture for over 40 years, and he has dedicated himself to helping other believers discover their faith more deeply through the story of scripture.

It’s not just written by one person—it includes commentary from dozens of different contributors who are also experts on scripture. The result is an experience that is both insightful and inclusive.

To date, Ignatius Press has published a single-volume New Testament, as well as stand-alone booklets of the New Testament books that feature study questions by Deacon Dennis Walters, perfect for group or personal Bible study. • 1 and 2 Samuel
  • 1 and 2 Kings
  • Job

Other volumes are coming soon!

Within the next year the Ignatius Press team will complete the Old Testament books and submit the annotations for ecclesiastical approval. Then the entire Catholic Study Bible will be published in a single volume. Individual booklets will continue to be available for Bible studies and personal use.

This has been an expensive, time-consuming mission. There really is no Catholic Study Bible available like the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. Ignatius Press has committed so much time and effort because we believe a proper understanding of the Bible, in light of Catholic tradition and the best of scholarship, can help renew the Church and reach others for Christ.

Ignatius Press is a non-profit Catholic-Church-based apostolate. We could use your financial help to complete this important project and to get the Study Bible into the hands of as many people as possible—bishops, priests, and deacons, yes, but also laity whose lives can be transformed by the written Word of God.
