Prayers to Read Before Bed is my blog, which is all about providing you with prayers that you can use throughout your day. The reason I created this blog is so that I could reach Christians. All of my posts are 100% FREE! So, what’s the purpose of creating all these prayers? Well, I believe in this world we are struggling, and searching for answers to our problems. My goal is to provide you (and me) with some peace and guidance through these faith filled prayers.
It’s probably not the first thing that we think about when we fall asleep for the night. But throughout history, people have attributed a number of positive characteristics to prayer or the act of praying. Prayer has been associated with peace and goodwill, as well as harmony and stability in relationshipsIt’s late, you’re lying in bed, and you can’t fall asleep. You turn to your phone to read for a few minutes to try and calm your mind. You read a few blogs before scrolling further and further down until it hits the 404 error at the end of the internet. What do you do?
Prayers To Read Before Bed
It’s hard to sleep when your mind is racing. And for many of us, our thoughts are racing with anxiety, fear or even regret. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution: prayer.
In fact, it’s a tradition as old as time. The Bible tells us that “the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16), and that “the Lord is near to those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).
So if you’re struggling to fall asleep at night because of your thoughts, try reading one of these prayers before bed instead of watching Netflix or checking social media. It might just help you drift off into dreamland!
“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.”
“Lord Jesus Christ, you are King of all kings and Lord of all lords. You are the Son of God who came into this world to save sinners and to set us free from sin and death. We thank you for coming into our lives, for dying on the cross for us, and rising from the dead so that we can have eternal life in heaven with you. Help us to live our lives in a way that pleases you. Forgive us for our sins and help us not to fall back into them again.”
“Father God, we thank You for all You have done for us during this day. Thank You for protecting us from harm and danger as well as bringing good things into our lives today. Please continue to watch over us as we rest tonight in preparation for tomorrow’s tasks. May we be healed physically, emotionally and spiritually as we go through this week ahead so that we may enjoy Your blessings each day.”
Now, there are three types of prayer:
Prayer of Adoration – Praising God.
Prayer of Thanksgiving – Thanking God.
Prayer of Petition – Asking God for our needs.
- Lord, hear my cry,
for I am poor and needy.
O God of all comfort,
I commend my soul to you.
- Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me a sinner.
- O most blessed Mother Mary! Look down from heaven upon this Thy handmaid who invokes Thee and who now implores Thy help for a greater purity of heart and body, for the love of God, for the glory of His name, and for the good of my soul, temporal and eternal. Amen.
- O Jesus, King of my heart! Thou hast taught me to pray that Thou mightest give me what I ask; but Thou knowest that I ask Thee only for what is best for me: therefore look down upon me with pitying eyes; give me only what will make me happy forever in heaven with Thee and Thy Mother Mary: through whose intercession may it come to pass! Amen.
Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts which we are about to receive from Thy bounty. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen
Blessed be God, Who has created the fruit of the vine. Blessed be His Name forever and ever. Lord God, I am at a loss for words. I’m not sure how to pray for this difficult situation, but I know you promise that you hear our prayers, so I want to try praying right now. Please be our comfort, our support, our strength, and our shield. Please help us overcome all that the enemy tries to throw our way. Help us depend on you and find great joy and peace from your presence. Thank you for always loving us and never leaving us. ~ Jennifer O. White
Prayer for Peace
Father God, my heart is filled with chaos and confusion. I feel as if I am drowning in my circumstances and my heart is filled with fear and confusion. I really need the strength and peace that only You can give. Right now, I choose to rest in You. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen. ~ Mary Southerland.
Prayer for the Broken-Hearted
Lord, my heart is broken but You are near. My spirit is crushed, but You are my rescuer. Your Word is my hope. It revives me and comforts me in especially now. My soul faints, but you are the breath of life within me. You are my help, the One who sustains me. I am weak but You are strong. You bless those who mourn, and I trust You to bless me and my family with all that we need. You will rescue me from this dark cloud of despair because You delight in me. The most important thing you can do for your child is to pray for their protection. This prayer is specifically designed to be said just before bed, but could also be used during the day as well.
Lord, I come before you, asking that you will watch over my child as they sleep and rest tonight. Please keep them safe from any harm and send angels to protect them while they sleep. I pray that I may not be afraid of the dark.

I pray for protection from any evil that may come to me, or any evil I may do.
I pray for protection from any pain that might come to me, or any pain I might cause.
I pray for protection from accidents and disasters, both natural and man-made.
I pray for protection from the things that might hurt my body, including sickness and injury, as well as those things which could cause me physical harm through lack of food or water or shelter.
I pray for protection from dangers such as fire and drowning, being burned in a fire or drowning in water, being burned by other things like lava flows or explosions (including grenades), being crushed under heavy objects like rockslides or cave-ins (including earthquakes), being cut by sharp objects like broken glass which may fall upon me, being shot by bullets or arrows (including arrows fired by crossbows), being stabbed with knives or spears (including spears fired by crossbows), being impaled on sharp objects (like spears fired by crossbows), being struck by lightning when outside during storms
Lord in heaven,
I come to you today as a child of God. I am seeking your wisdom and guidance in all that I do. Lord, I pray for protection over my family and loved ones. Please protect them from harm and evil so that we can live our lives in peace. Lord, I pray that you will give me the strength to fight against temptation, as well as the courage to overcome it when it comes my way. Lord, please protect my family from all sickness and disease. Powerful Night Prayer For Healing
Healing is a miracle. It is a gift of God. He heals both physical and spiritual illnesses. We pray to God for healing in the name of Jesus Christ. He has the power to heal us and make us well. God loves us so much that he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. He gave up his life for us, so that we could have eternal life with him in Heaven.
Healing takes place through a process where you are able to receive it from God through faith and not by your own strength or power. You cannot heal yourself or anyone else; it is God who does this miracle in your life through faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, who died on the cross for your sins and rose again three days later on Easter Sunday morning!
When someone prays for healing, there are many different things that can happen:
The person may feel better emotionally or spiritually, but their body stays sick or injured;
The person may feel better physically, but their soul remains sick;
The person’s illness may disappear completely;
O Lord, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. I am in desperate need of your healing power. I have done all that I can do and now I ask for your miracle, Lord. Please hear my prayers and heal me from this sickness or disease.
