Bible Study On Identity In Christ

At our church, we had several growth issues. One was attendance — it wasn’t bad — but it wasn’t great either. Another issue we had was an unusual high turnover rate among certain members who normally would have been valuable assets to our small group ministry. We noticed these people usually left the church because they felt “unneeded” and “unwanted”. So somebody suggested Bible Study on Identity In Christ which is one of the best books I have read to date!

God expects us to be a certain kind of people. But what is a Christian supposed to look like? How can we live out our faith in both word and deed? Every passionate believer struggles with these questions, and they are especially important in our age of pluralism and consumerism. The answer is far more simple than you’d think: the Bible tells us so.

How do you know who you are? What is your identity? We all have an idea of who we are, but what if that idea isn’t true? In this study we’re going to examine how Jesus has revealed our identity.

Identity in Christ

Romans 3:20-28

“Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.”

In this passage Paul is explaining what it means for us to be saved by faith. He says that we are saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. We do not need any good works or any other act on our part to receive salvation from God because it is already done for us through Jesus’ death on our behalf. He

The Bible is filled with stories of people who struggled to find their identity. But these people were not just struggling with who they were, they were also struggling to figure out how they fit into the world around them. In this study, we will look at four main characters who experienced this struggle and see how they handled it.

In the Bible, we learn that our identity is dependent on Christ.

The Bible tells us that we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This means that we have an innate sense of worth and dignity, regardless of anything else. However, because of our sinfulness, we cannot fully express this image in ourselves. Instead, we need to rely on Christ to help us grow into this image.

As Christians, our identity is not based on what we do or how we look—it’s based on who God says we are in Christ. We can’t earn His love; it’s been given freely to us (John 3:16). And He has done everything necessary for us to be reconciled with Him through faith in Jesus’ death on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21).

  1. Who am I?
  2. Who are you?
  3. Who is God?
  4. What is the gospel?
  5. How do we live in light of this truth?
