I don’t know about you, but the ups and downs of life are getting to me. There’s a lot of pain and suffering in this world, and it can be difficult to find my place in it all. Where should I go? What should I do? Who should I help? These are all questions that can overwhelm our minds. It seems like we never get answers to those questions, no matter how hard we try.
As a Christian, we should be able to understand when things are going well and also when things are going horribly. The Bible has plenty of examples to show us. Jonah’s situation as he was swallowed by a fish as told in Matthew 12:38 is one of them. Jonah experienced down and ups that seemed so different from each other. Sometimes we experience the same thing. When life seems to go well our faith, and maybe even character, seems stronger than ever! We might become more confident or even more cocky; whereas if things aren’t going our way our faith and character just seem to breakdown faster than anyone can imagine.
