Old Testament
The Old Testament is the first part of the Bible. It tells about God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (also called Israel). God promised to give this family land in Canaan (now called Israel) for their descendants. The Old Testament also tells about Moses leading the people out of Egypt and through the desert to Canaan. It tells about Joshua leading them into Canaan after Moses died. Finally, it tells about judges who ruled over the people of Israel until they had kings like Saul (the first king), David, and Solomon (the greatest king).
New Testament
The New Testament is made up of four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), two letters from Paul called Epistles (Romans and 1 Corinthians) and 21 other letters written by other writers. These letters were written after Jesus died on the cross and rose again on Easter Sunday morning; they tell us more about Jesus and his teachings than any other part of the Bible
