The Bible has a lot to say about the morning.
One of the most common themes in scripture is the importance of getting up early and making time for God. In fact, there are over 150 references in the Bible to rising early or being up all night.

“The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord! Make His paths straight!'” (Mark 1:3)
“For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, And dug for themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.” (Jeremiah 2:13)
The Bible commands us to get up early every morning and give God our best.
- The first thing to do is get up. There is no substitute for getting out of bed and facing the day. If you make this a habit, you will find yourself looking forward to starting the day instead of dreading it.
- Pray for all your family members, especially those who are sick or who are going through difficult times. Pray that God will help them through the day and night with whatever they may be facing at that time.
- Read from the Bible, Psalms or Proverbs. It will help you start your day on the right foot by putting God first in your life and giving Him praise for His many blessings in your life (Psalm 103:1-5).
- Get dressed, fix yourself something to eat or drink and get ready for work or school if necessary (Proverbs 15:17).
The Scriptures tell us to “Rise up, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.” (Isaiah 60:1)
It is God’s will that we shine as lights in a world that is dark. The Bible says that He has given us “the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18). We have been called to be ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). And as ambassadors we are to represent Him well.
The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:1-6, “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
