• Matching questions that require students to connect external events and people with particular biblical references.
These questions are intended to help students think about the context in which the Bible was written. They’re not intended to be answered by looking up the answers in a Bible. Instead, they should be answered by looking up the answers in a Bible and then answering them, writing down what you find or thinking about how it relates to your life today.

• Cloze exercises that help children learn more about important figures and historical events in the Bible.
Cloze exercises are a great way to learn new vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and paragraph structure. If you’ve ever seen an SAT question where a word had been deleted from the passage, you may have done this type of exercise yourself. The goal is to find the correct word in order to create sense out of nonsense. For example:
“The cat sat on top of ___________.”
You could fill in the blank with “the dog,” but that would be wrong: there’s no mention of dogs in this sentence! Instead, try “the table.” That makes perfect sense because cats don’t sit atop tables very often… unless they’re riding them into battle like this one did (that’s what she gets for having such big ears).
